Meaningful Learning & Study Techniques

I'm a passionate researcher since childhood. Below, I'll share some of my "tricks and secrets" for generating long-term knowledge:

The visual component

  • Use of colors as mnemonic stimuli
  • Creation of a Visual Vocabulary of the context
  • Sketchnoting and Highly Visual Notes
  • Graphic Facilitation & Scribing

Long-term memory Recall system

For this purpose, I apply the FlashCards system with Anki, an excellent free tool: ankiweb.net

Hand-drawn strategic-tactical diagrams:

  • Visual representation of goals in context
  • Advanced visualization of information flows in context
  • Mind maps
  • Use case diagrams and hypotheses
  • Sequence diagrams and timelines

Consumption of content in context

Visualization and listening to transdisciplinary content seeking thematic convergences (common points and similarity) and applicability.

Exploration of each field of knowledge in multiple languages

  • Contextualized readings in multiple languages. Wikipedia with its multilanguage system is a nice example of useful content wikipedia.org.
  • Watching live television in various languages, filtering by category and city. For this, we have the wonderful language learning website LanguagePlayer. This website is an example of the greatness of collaborative creation. It is an Open Source system, and you can explore it at languageplayer.io
  • Movies from various continents, with subtitles in the languages you are learning. For this, I use "YTS YIFY" and software to download video subtitles, usually OpenSubtitles.
  • Watching documentaries related to the field of knowledge and biographies of involved authors.
